6 8 5

2 Sept So far travel days have presented interesting challenges. Today was no different. When we got to the Ushuaia Aeropuerto we found out that our flight to Buenos Aires was indefinitely delayed. Fortunately we were early enough to get assistance from a early morning harried desk clerk. He offered to switch us from Aerolineas Argentina to LAN for no cost, the only catch was we had to pick up our luggage and change airlines in Buenos Aires. Sounded good to us, with the added bonus of plenty of time on the ground and making our connection to Iguazu. However there's always a catch. First our luggage was listed as coming in on carousel 6, then it got changed to 8, which was in a different area, so we had to backtrack. When we got to 8, the monitor initially had our flight number, but then it got switched to 5, so we had to go back to where we were, just over one carousel. The good thing was we had lots of time on the ground, so it was just comical to us. The flight from Ushuaia to BA is 3 hours and the flight from BA to Iguazu is another 1.5 hours. Makes for a long day with several hours waiting in BA. There's allegedly free internet at the airport, but the airport was so busy that getting on line wasn't a reality. The flight coming into Iguazu is definitely over jungle, and you can see the rivers and mist from the falls from the air. There are only two gates in Iguazu, so finding our luggage wasn't a challenge. Our hotel is La Cantera Jungle Lodge, and we are definitely in the jungle. I picked the hotel based on price and thought the location looked good on the internet map. Not exactly. The room is fine, the restaurant was good, it's just a way out from town. And there's no internet in the room as advertised. It is definitely warmer here than we have been in several weeks. That only lasts till Bogota, which will be cooler again, though not like Ushuaia. So you're probably reading this on Wednesday morning, not Tuesday night. Oh well. I now know, so I'll be posting from the lobby tomorrow.
