Bogota

7 Sept

We flew from Buenos Aires to Bogota on Aerolineas Argentinas.  The flight was over 6 hours long (travel over 5000 miles) and Roger got the rock as far as his seat went. The seating light had a mind of its own and would randomly work, as did his inflight entertainment system.  Not having video was not a big deal, because he had a book.  However random reading lighting was a problem.  When he tried to switch seats he was told he couldn't.  We are now officially not fans of Aerolineas Argentinas.

Jaime and Maria Helena met us at the airport.  We checked into a hotel right across the street from their townhouse, which is really convenient.  Nathalia and her fiance Raul came to visit, as did Jaime Andres and Natalia (his wife) for a lovely supper that included fruit salad, green salad with garlic chicken breast and Roger had ice cream for desert.  He was a happy camper, despite being overwhelmed with trying to follow the conversation in Spanish.  Patricia and Valeria came later, as they had a hectic Sunday.  We visited with this group of cousins, because they have to go to work tomorrow.

Nathalia and Raul are getting married on 6 December in Cartagena, where Raul is from.  They are going on a cruise for their honeymoon.  Nathalia said to make sure I tell her brother hello for her and see if he wants to come to Cartagena for a wedding?

Tomorrow Jaime and Maria Helena have lunch arrangements with the retired cousins.  The working cousins all want to be on pensions like the older cousins without having to do the time on the job.  All were very curious about our trip and why it was on our list of travel places.  Additionally they wanted to know where we liked the best.  That's a hard call, because we've seen so much and our attitudes changed dramatically once we were Norm-free.

All send their best wishes to Mary Ellen and hope that she continues with good health.

  1. Big Family! Lots of primos! Sounds like a wonderful family reunion, in spite of Roger having problems keeping up.
