4 July
We
left El Salvador and crossed into Honduras.
The border crossing took a long time, both exiting and entering. All in all it took about 3.5 hours. The electrical nightmare was taken in El
Salvador and the fumigation occurred in Honduras.
The
inside of our RV was also fumigated. The
goal is to prevent the spread of agricultural pests.
It
took about 4 hours to drive through Honduras.
According to Norm, Honduras is almost as “not safe” as Mexico. So he’s never stopped much in Honduras. The Honduras border closes at sunset, so we
ended up making another slow crossing between Honduras and Nicaragua and ended
up spending the night on the Nicaragua side of the border. It’s odd, the Nicaragua border is open 24
hours a day, but traffic gets stopped at the Honduras line, because they only
operate during daylight hours. Needless
to say there were a lot of trucks on the Nicaragua side, so it was not a very
peaceful place to stop but safe. It was
a slow day, with all the border crossings with less than 150 miles traveled.
