Managua

8 July

It took about 1.5 hours to drive from Granada to Managua, about 40 miles.  There was a lot of traffic, because we were on THE main road of Nicaragua.  Managua is the capital of Nicaragua.  It is a typical Central America city.  Lots of people of a variety of social economic status.  The stop in Managua is listed as a RV repair refresh stop.  Sandra's son Ben flew in to hopefully fix her refrigerator.  Ben had an extensive conversation with the Earth Roamer technicians.  He and Roger pulled the refrigerator and Ben got to work.  Plan A did not work.  The second solution that Ben came up with was working, but only time will tell if it's a permanent fix.  Ben will be with us until Panama.  He is a very talented "gear head" and according to Sandra "he can pretty much fix anything."  We're all hoping that his creative solution is the solution until Sandra can get her RV back to Earth Roamer.

We stayed in a hotel, as camping wasn't a good option.  We enjoyed taking "hollywood" showers, cranking up the AC, and just generally recharged from a month of road camping.  I also was able to convert some left over Mexican Pesos to USD.  Yea!

Today we're headed to San Jorge which is on the shores of Lake Nicaragua.  The goal is to see the island of Ometepe, which is a nature tourist attraction.  Connectivity will be a challenge, because we've been told internet connectivity is marginal once we leave Managua and head to the shore and eventually south to Costa Rica.
